LANDMARK BUILDINGS
The Accra skyline and many of the city’s principal buildings bear witness to the long and distinguished contribution of Taysec to ‘Building Ghana’. Whether building a foreign embassy or the HQ for an international agency, bank or public or private sector investor, the Taysec professional team can provide the full range of construction management services. In addition to technical expertise, Taysec understands the sensitivities of working with government ministries and international agencies and the need to conform to exacting guidelines, schedules and budgets.
Design and build
Due to the complexities of development funding mechanisms Taysec has found that the Design & Build model is the most efficient way to procure projects. Founded on the master-builder tradition of Frank Taylor, the contemporary contractor-led Design & Build minimises project risk and reduces the delivery schedule by overlapping the design phase and the construction phase of the project. Taysec’s partnering approach builds upon the integrated capabilities of their international team delivering cost benefits and seamless management across the development process. Taysec offers bespoke solutions to meet client specific needs.
AN AWARD WINNING COMPANY: In 2005 Taysec won the ‘Construction News International Performance of the Year’ award for the Accra Temple Complex.
RESORT DEVELOPMENT
With experience that goes back to building West Africa’s first 100 bedroom luxury hotel – the Ambassador, opened for Ghana’s Independence in 1957 – Taysec has been at the forefront of constructing landmark hotel and leisure developments across the country. These include the Accra Novotel – Ghana’s first 200 bedroom hotel, the Golden Tulip, and the Elmina Beach Resort Hotel. Taysec’s specialist services and Design & Build expertise are available to leisure industry investors and operators in Ghana’s growing tourism sector.
TRANSPORTATION PROJECTS
Helping to ‘Build Ghana’ is a claim that Taysec can make with good reason. From the great Kintampo-Tamale-Makongo arterial road network that links the Sahara to the Atlantic Coast to eliminating the capital’s worst bottleneck through reconstruction of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle roundabout and Achimota Highway, Taysec is Ghana’s oldest and most experienced supplier of transport sector construction management and services. The rapid development of Ghana’s transportation infrastructure requires experience and innovation to meet the future challenge of being an oil economy.
AIRPORTS AND AIRPORT FACILITIES PROJECTS
Taysec’s long experience as self-performing constructors and civil engineers has given its professional team a unique databank of knowledge on gateway projects. The iconic Kotoka Airport red and white check elevated water tower is a Taysec landmark. From refurbishment of the buildings and facilities at Kotoka International Airport – including the control tower and passenger terminal as well as providing a new freight terminal – to the resurfacing of the runway, Taysec is the first choice.
PORTS AND HARBOURS
Taysec is proud of its heritage dating back to the Takoradi Harbour Extension, Takoradi Harbour Bridge, the Transit Sheds and the Coast Road contract as a response to the ever increasing demands of trade and development in the Independence era. Takoradi is once again the focus of development for Ghana’s nascent oil industry and, just as Taysec’s construction legacy has played an integral part in enabling Ghana’s export infrastructure in the past, so the company stands ready to face the challenge of the future.
CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Taysec’s historic background as a self-performing constructor has given the professional team a unique knowledge base from which to draw upon for supervision of civil engineering projects. With over six decades of experience building modern Ghana, Taysec understands the importance of infrastructure to any project and can manage the full spectrum of needs within the African environment.
Taysec is justly proud of its social infrastructure construction. Roads, railways, ports, harbours and airports are all part of the 60-plus year portfolio of operations in Africa. Financing for social infrastructure projects in developing countries is complex. Taysec can offer consultancy services to provide a complete solution as part of its integrated capability to deliver solutions across the broad range of development needs. From public health to transport and communications, Taysec can offer quality management and cost benefits throughout.
“Our engineering and construction pedigree is a source of great pride and testifies to our solid tradition of craftsmanship and excellence.”
INDUSTRIAL AND AGRO-BASED INDUSTRY PROJECTS
From a diamond mine treatment plant at Akwatia to the installation of a large rotary oil-fired kiln for the manganese mine at Nsuta, from irrigation dam construction to oil palm extraction plants and cocoa processing factories, Taysec has the expertise to deliver complex construction of industrial plant or factory complex. At the community level, Taysec works with local people to support and enhance their quality of life and the benefits to them of projects implemented in their environment. We aim to represent clients with the same diligence as they would themselves.
